  • Name Laura (Ellen) Starbuck Rainham
    • Birth and Marriage Records show first names "Laura Starbuck". Death Certificate shows "Laura Ellen Starbuck".
Electoral Rolls 1905 and 1914 show "Laura Ellen Kitto".
At the request of the family of Mark STARBUCK whose daughter Laura Ellen STARBUCK was coincidently born in the Otago Goldfields, after her parents had migrated from Australia, as was Laura Ellen Starbuck RAINHAM for the possibility of a connection I have established:
      1. There is no apparent connection between the two families, in Australia NSW and Victoria and then later in the Otago area. However on looking up the meaning of "Starbuck" I found in Wikipedia "The name Starbuck is primarily a gender-neutral name of English origin that means "From The River Where Stakes Were Got".
English surname. Character in Melville's novel, Moby Dick.
      Usually used as a nickname."
This of course, in the RAINHAM case has relevance with their gold mining endeavours.
Then as to how "Ellen" came to be added along the way we find that it is derived from the name "Elizabeth" who was our Laura's mother.
