"Preparations for the establishment of the artillery unit, 16 Field Regiment, were in the hands of Lieutenant-Colonel John Moodie, a forty-three year old Dunedin clothing manufacturer." .../
Moodie had the assistance of five Regular Force officers." .../ "There were also a handful of regular NCOs and men, made available for for particular positions. Among these latter was T.A.N. ('Tan') Vine, with whom Moddie had served in the Second World War and who, as an instructor in the School of Artillery in Waiouru, was involved in the training of Kayforce before joining it in November. He was appointed regimental sergeant-major, the first step in a distinguished career with the force which would see him eventually commissioned." |
