Patricia Vredenbreght in a letter penned c1990 (http://genealogy.bobvine.gen.nz/documents/PatsLetter5pages.pdf) states: "There was a lot of scandle (sic) when Sydney married in East Africa. I destroyed the paper and cuttings about it when I cleared things after my parents passed on as I told Uncle Edgaronly innocent people (namely the children) could be hurt by it".
Further controversy surrounds Sydney'd third marriage to Winifred Carola Elizabeth Noel in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia on 26 November 1959. "Chongololo2011" in a note to me via Ancestry.com states: "With regards 'scandal' we would only know as/if it related to his late life marriage to my ggm. My mother does remember him , and she says at the time her father and mother tried to "talk" Winifred Carola out of getting married, but she was 'determined' to. Not sure what happened to him other than possible date of passing in the late 1960s in Bulawayo."
